Our SANA Story

Natural fiber intimates, made with intention

What if what we wear closest to our most intimate skin could be a healthier choice?

At SANA, we believe it can.

We started four years ago with a simple intention: to intimately and mindfully care for ourselves, our planet, and our community. Because underwear is more than something we wear- it's what stays closest to our skin, all day, every day.

That's why we choose natural fibers: a thoughtful blend of organic cotton and hemp, creating underwear that feels good on your body and is kinder to the earth.

Symbiosis
SANA is built on the belief that caring for our bodies and caring for the earth aren't competing choices — they're the same choice. Hemp and organic cotton were chosen because they work with the land they're grown on, not against it, and because what benefits the skin and what benefits the soil turned out to be closely related.

Lifecycle
From raw fiber to finished garment to worn-out scrap, SANA is designed with the whole life of the material in mind, not just the moment it leaves our hands. The stamped scraps on this table aren't waste; they're proof that even the "end" of a piece of fabric still has a story, a use, a next step.

Natural Dye Workshops

Conventional dyes often rely on petroleum-based chemicals and processes that release wastewater back into rivers and soil- a hidden cost that rarely makes it onto a label. At SANA, we choose natural dyes instead: color drawn from plants, minerals, and other elements the earth already provides. It's slower and never perfectly uniform, and we consider that a feature, not a flaw; a reminder that what you're wearing came from something living.

That's also why you won't find many predyed pieces on our site. Instead, we host monthly dyeing workshops where people learn the natural dye process by hand and dye their own SANA underwear. We’re inspired by turning color into a way of bonding with the piece you'll wear, not just a step in a supply chain. We do offer small drops of precolored pieces for those who want the finished result, but the workshop is where the real story lives.
